Why Doesn’t God Reveal Himself To Everyone?

A sure way to get people to believe, right?

One of the most common questions I get as a Christian is, “Why doesn’t God just show up and reveal Himself.” The people who ask this question usually allude to the fact that if God appeared in front of them, they would believe. This is a good question with no easy answer. It is easy to think that the appearance of God would bring everyone to believe. But that is not necessarily the case. This seemingly obvious solution has caused many to wonder if God is being unfair and why He doesn’t just show up. Wouldn’t that be the easiest solution to our religious quandry?

God Has Revealed Himself

The truth of the matter is that God has revealed Himself throughout history. More so, he has revealed Himself repeatedly. Interestingly enough, God’s appearance in the physical world doesn’t seem to move the needle much when it comes to humanity as a whole.

God revealed himself individually to people like Adam, Moses, and David. These people went on to do great things and had unshakable faith. Moses had the honor of visiting God here on Earth, and God spoke to him directly.

The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. — Exodus 33:11
