After the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001, the United States launched what would become known as the War on Terror. The official name of this conflict is the Global War on Terrorism. During this conflict, the United States deployed ample resources to root out and destroy any terrorist threat to the United States. Nothing would stand in the way of the United States’ ultimate goal of killing terrorists.
Personal freedoms? Trashed with FISA and widespread domestic surveillance.
Civilians? Bombed to dust by advanced warplanes flying with impunity over rural areas.
National borders? Violated.
National sovereignty? Ignored.
The United States led the way for the global crusade against radical Islamic terrorism. Nothing was sacred. Nothing was more important than rooting out “the bad guys.” This playbook was used for over twenty years on the global stage. The United States put boots on the ground in multiple countries, such as Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria. They bombed nations ranging from Libya, Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia.
