There is a drone sitting on the bottom of the ocean off the coast of Japan that looks similar to an airplane. It has turbines and a fuselage. It is made of a series of cylindrical parts designed to be hydrodynamic. But this is not a new type of transportation, this is the latest innovation in deep sea current technology.

The prototype is called the Kairyu and it is being developed by the Japanese company IHI Corporation. Engineers are hoping that the Kairyu is the first step towards a new source of green energy.

The Kairyu will be dropped onto the seafloor under fast-running currents of ocean water. The moving water will turn the turbines which will, in turn, generate electricity. The power will then be routed from the drones via thick undersea cables to shore where they will be used to power nearby coastal communities.

It is an exciting prospect that could change the future of green energy forever.

The Pros Of Ocean Current Power

People are watching the development of deep sea current power generating drones with great interest because ocean currents have a lot of benefits over other sources of green energy. Ocean currents never stop…
