The Other (Lesser Known) Axis Powers

Most people know the Axis powers as a trinity. Germany, Italy and Japan entered into an official defensive alliance in 1940 which created the so-called Axis powers. The agreement was called the Tripartite Pact and it linked the three countries together for the duration of the war. However, there were a host of other countries that were either officially a part of the Axis or heavily aided the alliance.
At its height, the Axis consisted of three major powers, three minor powers, three puppet states, and a collaborative co-belligerent. These ten nations fought across the globe against the Allies but only the Big Three get any meaningful attention.

Minor powers
Romania
Romania was one of Germany’s biggest military partners. In fact, Romania’s wartime leader Ion Antonescu was the only leader that Adolf Hitler directly conferred with regarding military matters. Romania was used extensively during the invasion of the Soviet Union and opened a large front in the southern part of the country.
