The Hundred Years’ War was one of the longest conflicts in European history. It pitted two rival houses against one another and sucked generations of men into a series of conflicts between England and France. It started an enduring Anglo-French rivalry that shaped the subsequent centuries. The war lasted for decades and saw numerous phases and a series of substantial battles. The human stories embedded in this conflict number in the thousands. Yet there was one tale that has stood the test of time.

The Battle of Agincourt is one of the most significant battles in European history. It saw the English defeat a French force nearly twice its size in October of 1415. The victory gave a considerable boost to England, which would go on to dominate the Hundred Years’ War for the next decade on the back of their stunning success in this battle. The battle resulted in nearly 10,000 casualties, with most of them being French. However, there was one English casualty that made history because of their loyal canine companion.
