The Doomsday Era Would Have Started With or Without Nuclear Weapons
Anti-nuke protestors only see a small sliver of the issue
On July 16, 1945, the world was changed forever when the United States successfully detonated the world’s first atomic bomb. The test was code named Trinity, and scientists watched with bated breath as the countdown clock ticked toward 0:00. The physicists behind the test were infamously unsure about the expected outcome. There were theories that the heat and force of the explosion could be enough to ignite the air in the atmosphere and burn the planet to cinders. They went through with the test anyway.
Since then, the world has been embedded in the nuclear age. It is an age where superpowers sit on stockpiles of hundreds or even thousands of nuclear warheads. Nuclear weapons can be strapped to large missiles or miniaturized into small tactical mines, torpedoes, and mortars. The proliferation of nuclear weapons has led many peace advocates to become anti-nuke. There are many people who believe that nuclear weapons should be eliminated for the safety of the planet. While the intentions of anti-nuke protestors are good, their information is flawed.
