Sorry for the late response, thanks for your comments. Much of what I do is trying to toe the line between being entertaining and being scholarly. Many of my readers are looking for interesting stories they can digest easily and quickly. I am not trying to be a strict historian nor do I ever want to knowingly or unknowingly mislead my audience.

The balance is sometimes hard to achieve. Swing too far in one direction and the writing will go over some people's heads and won't make a great impression, swing too far back and I end up watering down the story to a point where more scholarly people take issue with it.

It is an endless balancing act.
