Modern Christians can be real pricks. They can be preachy. They can be judgmental. They are absolutely hypocritical. Modern Christians oftentimes put more people off than they bring in. Thankfully, our religion was born in a different era. If Christians were as off-putting as they are today, Christ would have stayed dead in the First Century. Harsh, but true.

Modern Christians need to stop doing a whole lot of things and they need to start focusing on other people. They need to respect nonbelievers. They need to look inward, instead of outward.

Here are seven things that Christians need to stop doing immediately in order to better spread the faith and represent God.

1. Stop Offending Nonbelievers

One of the first things Christians need to do, whether intentionally or unintentionally, is stop offending nonbelievers. Christians do so much harm to the character of the church, the person of Jesus, and the nature of God by being jerks to those who don’t believe. This one is hard to do, and I am guilty of offending nonbelievers. They want to get rises out of us so that they can trip us up and say, “Aha! See, these people are jerks. No better than the rest of us.”
