Maybe we should stop telling our kids the world is ending

It seems to be causing some consternation

Whenever someone brings up the growing epidemic of child anxiety, some people of a certain age always utter a similar response. The response sounds something like this, and you have probably heard it.

“I don’t understand what these kids are so anxious about. When I was their age, I was just worried about getting home on time or asking out the pretty girl from down the road.”

For some people, it is baffling to try and understand why all of the kids are so dang anxious. But there is no disputing that America’s youth are more stressed out than ever.

According to a survey conducted by Georgetown University, the numbers are alarming.

  • Nearly 10% of American children have been diagnosed with anxiety. And those numbers continue to rise.
  • 4% of American children have been diagnosed with depression.
  • Over 5 million children have reported having behavioral problems at home or in school.

These numbers have resulted in a number of different outcomes, including a rise in suicide rates, a rise in the number of youth who want to sterilize themselves to avoid having kids, and the rise in violent outbursts among people 20…
