There is a myth circulating online that the United States has invaded every country in the world save for three (Andorra, Bhutan, and Liechtenstein). That would mean that the United States has invaded 190 out of 193 countries in the world. Clearly, this is incorrect. For example, when has the United States invaded Israel?

It only takes a quick look at a world map to realize that there are plenty of places where the United States has never put boots on the ground. Still, this rumor continues to circulate, and it has been used as a piece of misinformation to blast American aggression on the world stage.

This myth raises the question, how many countries has the United States invaded over the centuries? It is an interesting question with one clear answer and one murky one.
