How General Stonewall Jackson Inadvertently Ordered His Death
A tragic friendly fire incident
General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson was one of the best American military leaders of the 19th century. He served in the Mexican-American War before joining the US Civil War on the side of the Confederacy. He was the confidante and favorite general of Robert E. Lee during the war.
But Jackson’s time on this Earth was cut short. In a series of events that would come to rock the Confederacy, and General Lee personally, General Jackson was killed in battle. But it was not a Union sharpshooter that landed a fatal blow but Jackson’s own southerners.
Jackson gave the strict orders that led to his own demise in an ill twist of fate.
