The new tier is called Friends of Medium, and it will pay out 4x as much money to authors for reads. So what is the catch? It costs more money. The cost for the new tier is $15 per month ($150 per year if you buy an annual subscription.) And that is no small ask. It is never fun to shell out more money for a subscription. Especially today when 70% of people believe the economy is getting worse, not better.
