Dear Mr. President,

It has recently come to my attention that America is struggling with two very important issues right now. Our country has way too many guns and way too many student loans. The United States is home to roughly 393 million small firearms and my very expensive college degree tells me that that is a lot. The average US household with student loan debt carries a balance of over $50,000. My very expensive college degree tells me that that is a lot of debt for a family to be saddled with.

Worse still, gun violence is soaring across this great nation. Student loan debt is rising along side the gun violence. A coincidence? Possibly but I like to think I don’t believe in coincidences. Either way, we have a bimodal graph of two very, highly dangerous things flooding American streets.

Recently, I opened my gun case to put some important tax-related documents in and as I reached over my rifle and my handguns I came up with the most brilliant idea. Why doesn’t the government let us trade guns for student loan forgiveness?

Forget cash for clunkers. Lets do rials for Rugers. Pesos for pistols. Pennies for pistols? Hard cash for…
