Four Wars You Didn’t Know The USA Fought
History is written by the victors and that doesn’t always mean tons of publicity
The United States has garnered a reputation for being at war, a lot. Most people know the big names: World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Iraq War. But there are dozens of minor wars and conflicts that the United States took a part in that no one remembers. Some of these skirmishes were minor with few casualties but others were large affairs that spanned many years resulting in thousands dead.
Here are four serious wars that the United States took part in that few people remember.
Philippine–American War (1899–1902)
After the Spanish-American War, the United States took possession of Spain’s territories in the Philippines. While inheriting the Pacific islands they also inherited an ongoing revolution. In 1896, an armed uprising took shape to overthrow the rule of the Spanish. When the United States landed troops in the country to secure the new possession they were met with the insurrection.
