Dear Fellow Christians, Please Stop Obsessing About The End Times

Christianity has a Revelation problem. There is more time and attention given to end time prophecies and wild speculation than there is to actual sound doctrine. I have been a Christian my entire life, and I cannot help but roll my eyes any time I hear someone ask a question about the end times. I have heard more questions about the Rapture than about the Sermon on the Mount. And that is a big problem.

My frustration with this obsession with the end of the world in Christian circles is twofold.

First, Jesus expressly says that no one, not even He, knows the day or the hour of these things that are yet to come.

Second, Jesus also says that the end of the world will be readily apparent because… the world will end.

Together, the message should be clear. Don’t worry about it. If Jesus doesn’t know when the end of the world is going to happen, you sure as shit won’t either.

Basic Scripture

Instead of asking what the Rapture is going to look like or who the AntiChrist might be, or if we are experiencing wars and rumors of war, we should read the words of Christ when he says the following:
