Coming To Grips With Being A Stay-At-Home Dad In Modern America
Three irritating things I see on a regular basis
I am the proud father of two young boys. I am also the proud husband of an incredible wife who has an amazing career. She is a veterinarian and she grinded her way through eight long years of school and countless hours of training. When we decided to have kids, we chose to have me stay home. It saves money on childcare and keeps a parent in the house with the kids at all times. It is not fair to ask my wife to tone down her career simply because she is a woman. This is a system that has borne a lot of fruit for us, but it has come with some interesting challenges. There are many people in my life, both strangers and family, who seem to be unable to come to grips with the fact that I am a stay-at-home dad who cooks and cleans and takes care of small children all day.
