There is something alluring about marrying the heavenly Father with earthly politics. Godly power meets earthly power. It is something that has been happening since the beginning of time, but it recently has made a major comeback in the United States. The recent rise in political Christianity has shocked many who believed that the United States has a sacred separation of church and state. Whether it's the name of Jesus being evoked at political rallies or the wayward bible verse showing up on your social media feed, political Christianity seems to be everywhere.
Before I go any further, I want to say that I am not trying to throw shade or cold water on political Americans or Christians. I have a degree in political science, and at one point, I believed my destiny lay in Washington, DC. I am also a Christian and serve as a deacon at my local church. I get it. I get both sides. I still follow politics. I used to love it. I get how it can become all consuming. I also get wanting to appeal to God in debates and disagreements you feel strongly about.
