Happy Thanksgiving

Another year here, another year gone. Another Thanksgiving to spend time with family and reflect on what we have and what we are thankful for. In the past, Thanksgiving was a much more religious holiday when thanks were given to God rather than said hollowly around a table.

This year, I am thankful to all of you who read my writing on a regular basis. A writer is nothing without readers. Writing is my passion, my career, and my hobby. I love sharing new knowledge and information with others. Without that, I would be researching in a vacuum and storing up empty information for my own gratification. And what would be the point of that?

I hope that this year I have made you think and shown you the wonder of history and philosophy. If I have done that at least once, then I feel gratified.

This year has been up and down. The online writing sector has been hit hard by the wonky economy. Ad sales are down. Payments are down. Medium slashed my income by a substantial amount. Yet, we persevere. I also had a new baby and have continued to further my career. Overall, it has been a good year, and I hope next year is even better.

So thank you very much for reading, for commenting, for clapping, and for all of the coffees you have sent my way.

I also want to give thanks to God for my family, my health, and the foundations of the world that He set in place. God is good and the source of all good and gracious things in this life and the next.

Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you enjoy it with your friends and family.

And maybe, just maybe, I’ll have given you an interesting topic to share around the dinner table.
