A Look At The World’s Largest Hotel
Part Las Vegas, part Disney World
Perched atop a misty hill in western Malaysia sits an entertainment complex that few people have heard of. Clinging to the forested hillsides are casinos, leisure resorts, theme parks, shopping malls, and luxury hotels — including the world’s largest hotel.
First World Hotel is one of seven major hotels in the Genting Highlands and is currently the record holder for the largest in the world. It has held that record twice in its history.
First World Hotel has 7,351 rooms beating out the Venetian in Las Vegas which is in second with 7,092 rooms.
First World Hotel held the record previously from 2006–2008 with 6,118 rooms. It lost its title initially when the Venetian completed a massive expansion which pushed its room count north of 7,000. To compete, and regain the title for the world’s largest hotel, First World underwent its own expansion that saw the addition of another hotel tower. The expansion was completed in 2015 and the record returned.
