A Cult Unleashed A Biblical Plague Of Snails On Florida
A plague the state is still coping with
Florida has been battling an infestation of giant African land snails for years. The state thought the battle had been won after years of effort and millions of dollars in expenses. However, another wave of the snails has been found in a central Florida county. In just two weeks authorities have located over 1000 of the invasive snails rampaging through the New Port Richey area. These snails can live up to nine years, grow to be nearly a foot long and eat over 500 different types of plants as well as stucco, plaster, and other exterior home sidings.
Some experts think these snails simply hitchhiked their way from Africa to Florida where they enjoy the wet humid climate. However, others believe that the explosion in these invasive mollusks can be traced to a small cult operating out of the Miami area.
A small unknown cult run by a man by the name of Charles Stewart was operating in Miami and was using captive African snails as a part of their ritual. Stewart and his cult denied any responsibility for the invasion of snails but the connection might be too juicy to ignore.
